Head Coach - Scott Smith

Our team is 54 years old.  Bruce Straight started it in 1970.  Scott Smith took over from him.  We've only had 2 coaches.  South Lyon High School Cross Country Team is typically one of the larget teams in the league and state.  

Cross Country is a Fall sport.  Races are 3.1 Miles long and usually take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Our home course is Island Lake Recreation Area.  In 2024 we used Huron Meadows Metropark due to construction.  

No exprience necessary.

Year round opportunities:

Summer: Practice begins June 15, 2026.  Optional but encouraged.

Fall: Mandatory practices begin August 10, 2026 and end in October 

Winter: Winter Warriors for interested boys.  Running and Weight Training.

Spring: Track and Field is a natural pair with XC, but boys play other sports too.

Summer Mile Goals:

Freshman: 200, Sophomore: 300, Junior & Senior: 400
